To unlock iPhone 3G follow this:

First your iPhone has to be jailbroken
Launch Cydia and add this source: http://apt.geohot.com
Install the com.geohot.purplesn0w package
Reboot your iPhone
Done!

If you want to unlock your iPhone for T-Mobile, make sure you disable 3G in the settings.
